We were not expecting the kids would be able to play soccer this spring, but God provided a way for them to do so! So we are once again traipsing to the soccer field 3 or 4 times a week (2 practices a week and games every Saturday with occasional week night games). Only our 2 oldest are playing, and this year for the first time they are in the same division! So they practice and play together as teammates. Neither of them are super aggressive players, but they do each bring strong physical and mental skills to the game. It is really fun to watch them play. My husband agreed to be the assistant coach this year, and it's really fun for him because he played competitive soccer in high school and has always loved the game.
Last Saturday our daughter G scored her first goal EVER ~ after 3 years of trying! It was a happy day in our house!!
The rest of us use the games as practice in loving our siblings enough to sit and watch and cheer for them when we'd really rather be playing on the playground. :-)
(Our rule is that you have to watch the game for the first half (35 minutes) and then you can play the second half. This seems to work well, and fortunately G scored her goal during the first half so all her siblings got to see it!)
Congrats on the goal, G!
