Opening day of spring soccer was yesterday. We had good weather, a tad chilly but NO RAIN! Our daughter worked as a head referee for one of the peewee games (her first paying job!). She was a little nervous but did a great job. She is scheduled to ref six of the peewee games, and will use the money to pay for part of her mission trip this summer.
Little Man's Game
Before the first game of the season, they announce each player and let them run onto the field amidst music and clapping. Here comes Little Man!
And his bff from co-op!
I got no action shots of him, but here he is hanging out at half time (above), and watching one of his older brother's games with a friend after his game was over (below).
Son C's Game
He mostly played midfielder, which meant he was running back and forth across the entire length of the soccer field. He was HOT and TIRED when it was over! (but he played terrificly!)
Son G and L's Game
G's turn to run onto the field!
And here comes son L!
G usually plays defense. He is a good defensive player, almost always coming out with the ball.
Son L (in the middle) played goalie during the first half. He stopped about 10 shots on goal!
Son G.
During the second half L played offense, and scored the only goal of the game for his team!
Son G again.
Son L, corner kick.
None of our boys' teams won yesterday, but they all played well and felt they had done their best. Most importantly, they had fun. They love soccer, and I love to see them doing something they love so much!
So for the next 8 weeks, this will be where we spend five hours each Saturday. :-)
