MUMPS
Yes, I mean actual mumps, not an acronym for something else. It appears that my hubby has mumps ~ we won't know for sure until late tomorrow or Monday, but they are operating on the assumption that it's mumps since his cheeks are so swollen. He had mumps as a child and it's really rare to get them twice. So far the swollen cheeks are his only symptom. He has been ordered by his boss to stay home until the threat of contagion is past, so he will be working from home for a few or several days. Yay! All our children except Little Man have been immunized, so we will have to keep a close eye on him for awhile. I am so thankful my hubby did not have mumps 10 or 12 years ago, as sterility is often a byproduct of having mumps as an adult. Thank you, Lord.
oh man, poor B!
ReplyDeletei had mumps twice as a child. i don't remember a lot of my childhood, but i vividly remember the pain of mumps.
Actually sterility from mumps is extremely rare, and since before the mid 70's almost everyone got mumps I think we would all be in a world of hurt if sterility was common.
ReplyDeleteIf you would do some reading the mumps portion of the MMR has been shown to wear off leaving kids at risk of mumps during collage years.
The only way to get life long immunity against mumps is to have had the illness. Of course in this age of vax for every little sniffle and fill your body full of toxins because you can who wants to hear that?
Oh, and by the way so you know parts of the MMR vax was cultured on aborted fetal tissue, and the vaccine contains bovine (cow) fetal cells along with unknown viruses and bacteria. If you don't believe me read the packet insert.
oh no! I am so sorry and hope he feels better soon. How long does it usually last?
