If I can be as hip as you when *I* turn 50, I will be very happy! ;-)

Thursday's Thankful Things
Teaching two back to back online classes,
immediately followed by an hour with one of my tutor students,
having a 7 year old friend over for a playdate with Little Man,
correcting papers and preparing for real life co-op tomorrow (which is at our house),
laboriously editing one of my son's papers for his writing class tomorrow,
decisions for next year weighing heavily on me,
single parenting this evening,
and babysitting a dog.
All on 4.5 hours of sleep.
Today,
I am just really thankful that this day is over.

Super Bowl Par-tay!!!!!
Sixty five inches of flat screen, high definition, plasma wonderfulness is what we got to watch the Super Bowl on. I know, crazy, right??!! My brother in law invited us over to his old farmhouse out in the country for the big game, and showed off his newest splurge. I have to say, it was really really awesome to see the game on such a big TV!

We watched. We cheered. We ate!

My in-laws.

My brother in law with Little Man.

Son G and I gave each other a chest bump to celebrate the GIANTS VICTORY!!!!!! Whooo-hoo!!!!!!

"White Lightning"
***UPDATE***
"White Lightning" was not as fast as literal lightning, but it was a really cool design! Son C won the trophy for best design, and he was thrilled with that. The cars that won for speed were super fast, setting new track records! It was fun to watch!
Original post below:
I figured out we are in our fifth of nine consecutive years doing the Pinewood Derby. At our church, the Wed night boys' club for 3rd through 5th grades does it. It is so fun!
We are leaving in just a few minutes for this year's derby, and here is son C with his car, "White Lightning." He had just woken up in this picture. He is very excited about the paint job on his car (it does look really cool in real life) and hoping it's fast too! I'll let you know how the derby turns out!

Thursday's Thankful Things
So thankful to feel better today after being sick with a head cold all week.
Thankful for a good Dr visit ~ thankful for the financial means to play "catch up" with Dr, eye, and dental appointments, even the dreaded mammogram!
Thankful for God's mercies, which are new every morning.
SO thankful for the loaner minivan! Our lives have been so full this past week, we haven't even begun to figure out our vehicle situation.... but we don't have to because of this long term loan. (Does that mean I'm thankful for procrastination?)
Thankful that it's only 13 days until I get to hug my parents in person!!!!
I'm thankful that The Elegant Essay class I was teaching is done. Loved the material, hated the lay out. I have never been so happy to see a course come to an end! When the boys get to this stage, I'll know what to do differently and how to tweak it. And just maybe IEW will come out with a new edition before then! (I've requested it!)
Thankful for a washing machine that works, a dishwasher that works, a furnace that works, and a vacuum that works.
Very thankful for the spring like temps we've been having. We have birds that have come to nest in our birdhouses! We don't usually see little birds in the birdhouses until April. I'm hoping they aren't shocked by a huge winter blast, but if one comes at least they will have warm nests to hunker down in.
