Inexpensive Easter Basket Ideas?

Do you have any ideas for inexpensive items for Easter baskets? I have a few ideas, but would love others. I have a few small things from the dollar store and can make home-made treats for the children's baskets. I am also somewhat of a mean mom because I always give the children a few things that they really need, like socks and underwear. What else?

if you have those plastic eggs to recycle, you can put nickels & dimes inside.

also, packs of gum, if that is usually something you don't let them have.

what about coupons? i.e., stay up an extra hour.... go out for an ice cream cone with dad.... one night where you don't have to brush your teeth... a lunch with a can of soda.....????

I love the coupon idea! My mom has also used fruit before (the fruit market is very inexpensive) and stickers (buy a sheet and cut it into sections for the different kids). BUT I really like the coupon idea the best!

I need to call you...when would be a good time to talk?

J's comment made me think of those fruit gushers and fruit-by-the-foot. if it's something you don't normally buy, they are quite cheap and are individually wrapped and take up space!

since you guys have given up breakfast cereal, maybe they could each get a coupon to pick out one box of cereal, assigning each a specific month, so they don't all cash them in at once.

votemom: we haven't given up ALL cereal, just cereal every single morning. :-) I love the coupon idea and have thought of lots of ways I can really run with that one. Thank you!!
