Annual Fall Pumpkin Painting

This is such a fun little tradition we have. Each fall we buy five small pumpkins and the children each get to paint one however they wish. It is always fun to see what they come up! Not sure where the skeletons came from this year.... not my favorite, but.....

Little Man, getting a helping hand.

I like this idea so much better than carving! They look great! I've said this before but I'll say it again...you're kids are very very talented.
Skulls are big around here too. I think it's just because they are out everywhere in the stores, even on clothes, and will probably (hopefully) pass soon. I even bought a really cute fleece hoodie for A and when she tried it on she said she couldn't wear it to school because it had skulls on it. I didn't even notice but they were, indeed, embedded in the pattern. oops!

skulls are on every other boys item at gapkids...and a few of the girls as well. sometimes the central feature of the item but often embedded in the plaid, argyle, or other patterned print.
not sure what the draw is...some of my co-workers have suggested the skulls are associated with pirates - not with poison or evil or anything like that. either way i also hope the fad passes soon as the skull clothes do not sell well ;)
