I was so very impressed with how the college did Sarah's nursing convocation. It was incredibly meaningful in a variety of ways, opening and closing with members of the nursing school leading us in praise and worship. After the director of their nursing program shared a few words and Scripture with us, each graduate walked across the platform where they received a rose, a certificate, and their pin. Each graduate had also been assigned a character quality based on observations of their character growth over the previous four years. These character qualities were shown on the screen for each graduate as they were being "pinned". It was beautifully done.
Here is Sarah receiving her pin, and her character quality was virtue. All of the students wore their navy blue scrubs for this occasion, so she's the tall one in blue. :-)
After all of the graduates had received their pins, they were given the opportunity to leave the platform for a few moments and give a rose to someone whom they loved and had been supportive of them during their academic journey. Sarah gave a rose to her dad!
Here are the musical nursing students leading us in a closing song of worship.
Sarah and her roommate, Cara.
After convocation we walked across campus to Sarah and her sister Hailey's' dorm.
The second cousins piled on Sarah's bed for a photo op!
Out behind the dorm was an open area of grass, and the playground of the local public school, so it was the perfect place to have a little picnic and let the children run around and play. This is me and Little Man with Sarah's mom, my cousin Jeanette!
Sarah and her dad.
Isn't she just beautiful? She was glowing that day.
Hugging grandma. :0) (and very much missing her other grandparents who were not able to come!)
Three sisters (the youngest one is talking about attending the same college in a few years, so we may have the opportunity for many more years of college girlness in our home!)
Sarah's family.
All of us.
And of course, the requisite "silly picture".
It was short, but very, very sweet. The making of a special memory.
Congratulations Sarah! We love you and your whole family!
