And here is the finished product! This one belongs to our 8 year old son G. He is a lego fanatic so he added some lego figures to his house. In fact, the boys played house with these for much of the afternoon!

We are the house of perpetual construction. Here is "The Pizza Palace" that was constructed today of legos. The large white square in the lower left corner is a drive through window that swings up and open. The worker in the red hat at the counter is taking an order from a customer in a black hat.

Here is the pizza chef, hard at work in his puffy white chef's hat! Notice all the pizza boxes stacked up in the lower right corner.
And here is the drink stand. You can slide your tray along the grey slats and select your drink of choice from the colored buttons above. I must admit, I was impressed! And once again, to my dear sister in CA, please show this to your son! My son G always asks that I send these pics to you, your son is his lego hero!!

my boys played with legos for years. that was one of the best things i loved about our large family room and our finished basement.... lots of room to spread out and keep things under construction for weeks. in our last house we didn't have room and had to clean up the toys all the time.
i've saved all our legos. i think K especially will be a builder.
plz tell your builders that i am very impressed with the Pizza Palace - especially the beverages and pizza boxes!

That is great to hear that the houses looks "authentic"! The children will be so happy to hear that. They are talking constantly about us going to Jamestown now. They asked me today if any "real" indians would be there. I said I didn't know, but we could find out together!

Your P has played legos with my kids a couple times during the summer. It's great that he can still get down on the floor and build with the best of them!
Legos are one of those things that just never go "out".

Pam, when we did Jamestown we did the living history part and we did meet a few people who were Native Americans of the local area. My kids had so much fun. One of their favorite places was where some animal hide was stretched out and they used oyster shells (which line all the paths along Colonial Williamsburg, quite abundant in the entire area) to tan the hide. I had fun too and finally had to move them on just to see something else. It was funny because in reality this was *work* and I bet years ago kids used to complain about it! I think we could do the same display here and it wouldn't be as much fun because we don't have oyster shells around here! lol
