Tonight we had an "I can read!" party for our 7 year old son L! He chose his favorite story out of the "Teach your child to read in 100 Easy Lessons" book and read it outloud to his adoring public.

Then we sang "Happy Reading" to him (same tune as Happy Birthday of course!) and ate cake and ice cream.

It was a very fun thing for this homeschool mom to celebrate (3 down, 2 to go!). Again, way to go L!!

I remember your asking for ideas to make the first day of school special. Now I understand what you mean. You know how to make everything special!

Awww Laurie, how sweet of you to say so! My children might beg to differ however. :-)
I'm learning!
What a super idea! I'll havr to do that when my youngest finishes his Alphaphonics. :)
Love this idea! My 4th child is just learning the sounds of the letters -- a surprise party (in a year or 2) is a wonderful idea!
