Playing chess with 8 year old son G. We are still not finished with this game!
We moved 8 year old into the 2 year old's room this weekend. They are both THRILLED to share, especially 2 year old A who has slept alone for nearly all his life.
Moving one of the three twin beds out of the big boys room meant we had room to move around in there and finally clean it up really well! It looks so spacious now. Here are 5 year old C and 7 year old L beside their new stuffed animal "house" from IKEA. Each of the 3 older boys has 2 sections in this 6 section organizer for their stuffed animals. Any animals that do not fit into these compartments must be given away. I am slowly but surely making this saying a reality, "A place for everything and everything in its place"!

Mr. Mantis died today. We were all a little sad, but actually I think that staying alive for 6 days in captivity is pretty good for an insect. We are delaying his funeral until we have a chance to study the 3 parts of an insect this week in science. In that respect his dying today was quite convenient, as we were to find a dead insect to use for this study but were told not to kill one ourselves. 5 year old C is very glad that we do not have to feed it any more crickets.

Love that IKEA animal organizer. How much do they cost?
My boys adore chess. My oldest, T (12), is joining a chess club at co-op and also takes part in the library chess matches each month. All three boys play -- even E stops her busy teen stuff to play a game on occasion. They even have a magnetic chess board for the car.
love all the pictures!
i think stuffed animals reproduce in the night. good grief - how do our kids end up with so many??!!
TheShortOnes have been getting a fresh new supply from people as gifts. oy.
Susanne,
The animal organizer from IKEA was $2.99 I think. Or at the most $3.99. Very cheap! Our daughter had one in her room too, only she gets all 6 compartments for her animals while the boys only get 2 each. In her defense I will say that she has never played with dolls and has instead LOVED and truly played with her animals. They all have names and they have been on a variety of wonderful adventures.
How fun that your boys love chess too! My oldest two kids will soon be able to beat me, in fact I'm not sure I'm going to win the game that's in progress!
how did the boys do going to sleep together last night? (do they have the same bedtime??)
Votemom,
They go to bed at the same time, and so far it has worked out beautifully. A has asked if G can sleep with him at naptime too! He loves sharing his room. G wants me to move all his clothes over, but I'm not sure I'm ready for that big of a transfer.....
